00:00:17.153 --> 00:00:24.454
Through her work, We'll explore her journey, insights and the positive changes she's creating for students and teachers.
00:00:24.454 --> 00:00:25.637
So let's get started.
00:00:25.657 --> 00:00:26.097
Great,
00:00:26.739 --> 00:00:29.009
Can you start by telling us about yourself?
00:00:29.672 --> 00:00:31.527
Yeah, so my name is Taylor Oliver.
00:00:31.527 --> 00:00:44.933
I currently live in Jacksonville, Florida, and I support all schools, teachers, districts, students using our resources in North Florida and I also get to support the entire amazing state of Georgia.
00:00:46.682 --> 00:00:47.625
Wow, that's a big territory.
00:00:47.625 --> 00:00:48.226
You're running there.
00:00:48.448 --> 00:00:48.868
It is
00:00:49.170 --> 00:00:49.570
Wow.
00:00:50.220 --> 00:00:53.090
And so what brought you to that previously?
00:00:53.090 --> 00:00:55.167
What kind of things were you involved in in the schools?
00:00:55.920 --> 00:00:58.689
Yeah, so previously I've actually held a couple of positions.
00:00:58.689 --> 00:01:02.951
So, starting with, right after college, I went right into the classroom.
00:01:02.951 --> 00:01:17.546
I taught for some years, not to age myself, but I took grades 5 through 12 with social studies, and then from there, I became a district administrator, where I was a curriculum specialist for a couple of years as well, and I was servicing grades K through 12.
00:01:17.888 --> 00:01:27.953
Wow, and tell me, did you have any takeaways from your experience, either as a curriculum coordinator or as a teacher, like a milestones or an aha moment with your students, that you'd like to share?
00:01:28.980 --> 00:01:32.408
Yeah, I think the biggest aha moments.
00:01:32.408 --> 00:01:38.304
I've had several I had one major one as a specialist and one major one as a teacher.
00:01:38.304 --> 00:01:45.225
I think the biggest one that I had as a teacher I got to teach during the last presidential election and we actually ran a mock election.
00:01:45.225 --> 00:02:07.656
And my assistant principal, who's now a principal, he was amazing and he helped me set everything up and it was really, really cool to be able to do a mock election with students and students the next day, like we, of course, we had to sit down at night and run all the numbers and then they got to see like, oh, like, our vote matters and of course it was a mock election, but they got to see the outcome of their votes and it was really cool, wow.
00:02:07.656 --> 00:02:11.010
And then the aha moment I had when I was a curriculum specialist.
00:02:11.120 --> 00:02:18.054
I did a PD and at the end of PD I'm sorry, the beginning of PD I would always start with some type of an instructional tool.
00:02:18.054 --> 00:02:28.489
I would gamify our PDs and throughout the year I had teachers tell me like oh, that thing that you did in PD, I did it in my classroom and students were, you know, really engaged and it was a lot of fun.
00:02:28.489 --> 00:02:37.973
So it was cool that, like the things that I was like trying to be an exemplar for these teachers, they were doing it in their classrooms and it was having positive outcomes for students.
00:02:38.594 --> 00:02:39.116
Wonderful.
00:02:39.116 --> 00:02:41.268
So what brought you to EverFi?
00:02:46.800 --> 00:02:48.447
So what brought me to EverFi was was as a curriculum specialist.
00:02:48.447 --> 00:02:49.129
I serviced a couple of schools.
00:02:49.129 --> 00:02:57.223
I serviced, you know, a couple thousand students, but now with Everfi I actually get to reach, I mean, several hundred thousand students between North Florida and the entire state of Georgia.
00:02:57.223 --> 00:03:13.183
I get to attend conferences and meet cool folks like yourself and I get to travel and I get to meet and network and really be involved with what's going on in K-12 and I get to sort of like burst outside of my little county bubble, which is really, really cool.
00:03:13.183 --> 00:03:19.903
I'm hearing new ideas, new instructional tools, new instructional technologies that are out here.
00:03:19.903 --> 00:03:22.191
So I love being out here in the field with EverFi.
00:03:22.680 --> 00:03:23.701
That is wonderful.
00:03:23.701 --> 00:03:28.711
So you're here promoting EverFi to the masses of Georgia.
00:03:28.711 --> 00:03:30.514
That's great, I understand.
00:03:30.514 --> 00:03:31.824
Are you presenting soon?
00:03:32.287 --> 00:03:32.728
I am.
00:03:32.728 --> 00:03:36.850
So I will be presenting tomorrow, on our last day, from 9 to 9.50.
00:03:36.850 --> 00:03:38.387
And I'm very excited to present.
00:03:38.387 --> 00:03:41.281
I'm hoping for a big turnout, yeah.
00:03:41.281 --> 00:03:44.207
So I'm super excited to present to our teachers and admin here.
00:03:44.830 --> 00:03:45.592
Oh, that's awesome.
00:03:45.592 --> 00:03:57.610
Yeah, we're really busy at the Georgia Council of Social Studies and I'm sure this is very exciting with what's going on there, so I wanted to touch base on let's see.
00:03:57.610 --> 00:04:01.591
So do you have any other things you'd like to share with the audience?
00:04:02.099 --> 00:04:05.348
Yeah, so I would love to share more about EverFi.
00:04:06.010 --> 00:04:06.192
Okay.
00:04:06.439 --> 00:04:12.567
My favorite part about EverFi and if anyone's ever been in any of my PDs or trainings we are 100% free.
00:04:12.567 --> 00:04:22.172
We never charge teachers, even if I come out to do a PD, if I come out to work with students and do a workshop, we are 100% free every time because we're backed by sponsors.
00:04:22.172 --> 00:04:26.966
So here in Georgia we're backed by the Atlanta Falcons.
00:04:26.966 --> 00:04:28.954
They pay for our courses called the Character Playbook NFL.
00:04:28.954 --> 00:04:31.764
They pay for some of our courses called Understanding Mental Wellness.
00:04:31.764 --> 00:04:41.273
We're backed by Truist Mass Mutual and so we get to partner with these super amazing companies and they actually provide these resources for free.
00:04:41.273 --> 00:04:44.627
And we also wear standards alignment as well.
00:04:44.627 --> 00:04:49.766
So we have all of our standard alignment guides specifically to our personal finance mandates here in Georgia.
00:04:49.766 --> 00:04:51.069
Wow, come check us out.
00:04:51.088 --> 00:04:52.151
That is amazing.
00:04:52.151 --> 00:04:53.173
Yes, absolutely.
00:04:53.173 --> 00:04:53.339
So.
00:04:53.339 --> 00:04:56.206
Go check out EverFi, and see Ms Oliver.
00:04:56.206 --> 00:05:03.572
She'll be able to help you with all the things that are going on here, again brought to you courtesy of ABC Spotlight for Success.
00:05:03.572 --> 00:05:04.682
We're here for you.
00:05:04.682 --> 00:05:06.704
Hope you have a great rest of the conference.
00:05:07.004 --> 00:05:07.386
Thank you.
00:05:07.386 --> 00:05:08.326
You too, it was great meeting you.
00:05:08.547 --> 00:05:10.730
All right, nice meeting you.
00:00:00.580 --> 00:00:08.175
00:00:08.175 --> 00:00:17.153
00:00:17.153 --> 00:00:24.454
00:00:24.454 --> 00:00:25.637
00:00:25.657 --> 00:00:26.097
00:00:26.739 --> 00:00:29.009
00:00:29.672 --> 00:00:31.527
00:00:31.527 --> 00:00:44.933
00:00:46.682 --> 00:00:47.625
00:00:47.625 --> 00:00:48.226
00:00:48.448 --> 00:00:48.868
00:00:49.170 --> 00:00:49.570
00:00:50.220 --> 00:00:53.090
00:00:53.090 --> 00:00:55.167
00:00:55.920 --> 00:00:58.689
00:00:58.689 --> 00:01:02.951
00:01:02.951 --> 00:01:17.546
00:01:17.888 --> 00:01:27.953
00:01:28.980 --> 00:01:32.408
00:01:32.408 --> 00:01:38.304
00:01:38.304 --> 00:01:45.225
00:01:45.225 --> 00:02:07.656
00:02:07.656 --> 00:02:11.010
00:02:11.120 --> 00:02:18.054
00:02:18.054 --> 00:02:28.489
00:02:28.489 --> 00:02:37.973
00:02:38.594 --> 00:02:39.116
00:02:39.116 --> 00:02:41.268
00:02:46.800 --> 00:02:48.447
00:02:48.447 --> 00:02:49.129
00:02:49.129 --> 00:02:57.223
00:02:57.223 --> 00:03:13.183
00:03:13.183 --> 00:03:19.903
00:03:19.903 --> 00:03:22.191
00:03:22.680 --> 00:03:23.701
00:03:23.701 --> 00:03:28.711
00:03:28.711 --> 00:03:30.514
00:03:30.514 --> 00:03:31.824
00:03:32.287 --> 00:03:32.728
00:03:32.728 --> 00:03:36.850

00:03:38.387 --> 00:03:41.281
00:03:41.281 --> 00:03:44.207
00:03:44.830 --> 00:03:45.592
00:03:45.592 --> 00:03:57.610
00:03:57.610 --> 00:04:01.591
00:04:02.099 --> 00:04:05.348
00:04:06.010 --> 00:04:06.192
00:04:06.439 --> 00:04:12.567
00:04:12.567 --> 00:04:22.172
00:04:22.172 --> 00:04:26.966
00:04:26.966 --> 00:04:28.954
